HAI Chairperson Michael O’Kane was invited to attend the Ireland Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers), held at the Dominican Retreat Centre in Tallaght from 9–12 April 2026.
The gathering brought together participants from across Ireland and around the world, including representatives from a wide range of religious traditions, belief systems, and secular communities. Throughout the event, speakers explored the challenges and discrimination experienced by different communities, while also sharing ideas aimed at strengthening understanding and building meaningful community connections. Special attention was paid to global and climate crises, as the theme “how friends respond to the needs of a suffering world” was woven throughout the event.
The HAI greatly values the opportunity to participate in such cross-cultural and inter-community events, and to foster constructive relationships with diverse groups across Ireland.
