The Key Issues: Assisted Dying and Education Equality
1. Assisted Dying: Compassion and Choice
- We believe that individuals with terminal or progressive illnesses deserve the legal right to end their lives with dignity. A compassionate approach to assisted dying respects personal autonomy and helps to minimize unnecessary suffering.
- The Oireachtas Joint Committee on Assisted Dying released recommendations in March 2024, and we want to see these enacted. Our aim is to prevent individuals from being forced to travel abroad for assisted death or leaving their loved ones at risk of prosecution.

- “Do you support legislation allowing assisted dying for terminally ill individuals, with safeguards against misuse?”
- “Will you advocate for the recommendations of the Oireachtas Committee on Assisted Dying to be implemented?”
2. Education Equality: Fair Access for All Children
- We’re advocating for a secular, inclusive education system where all children, regardless of belief, are treated equally. Currently, 95% of primary schools in Ireland are under religious patronage, which disadvantages families from non-religious or minority faith backgrounds.
- We support moving faith formation outside of school hours and ensuring that every child has fair access to education without religious discrimination.

- “Will you support reforms for a more inclusive, secular education system, including moving faith formation to after-school hours?”
