Bridget Carlin, Galway

Bridget Carlin lives in Portumna, Co. Galway and has been a Humanist celebrant since November 2010.

Raised as a Roman Catholic she became an atheist in her teens. Bridget’s philosophy is that each person should take personal responsibility for their own moral philosophy. “We have one life & we have to make the best of it. When we die, like all other living things, we decompose and our atoms, abandoning any loyalty they may have had to us go on to become components of other entities. Consequently the only afterlife is the influence we may have had on people surviving us. Finding the Humanist Association was great, great to find like minded, amusing & challenging people to explore issues with.”

Bridget studied English Literature and is an avid reader. Mother to two children, her work has been in education, advocacy, social & environmental campaigning and child care. She has always worked on projects that she was committed to and passionate about – to use Bernard Shaw’s phrase she has always done ‘useful work’.

Bridget prefers to conduct ceremonies in counties Galway, Limerick, Clare, North Tipperary, Offaly, Laois, Roscommon, Westmeath & Mayo, but is willing to travel to all counties on the Atlantic coast

Bridget is no longer taking bookings in 2019 but is still available for Funerals and Naming’s. Bridget is accepting bookings for all ceremonies in 2020 and 2021
